O Sun Rice é o nosso evento sem fins lucrativos e com objetivo de angariar fundos para apoiar a Associação na próxima fase de mudança de espaço. Como sabem, é uma operação grande que requer uma alavanca financeira muito grande, e não tem sido nada fácil para nós tentar gerir tudo, mantendo o nosso espaço em Xabregas em pleano funcionamento.
Com a vossa ajuda e presença, é com muita alegria que anunciamos que, nesta última edição de dia 12 de abril, a Arroz conseguiu juntar 2628,30€ que reverterão diretamente para esta missão difícil. Assumimos o nosso habitual compromisso de total transparência, partilhando convosco os números relativos a esta última edição neste gráfico em baixo.

Com base nesta análise, concluímos que foi a edição com o maior sucesso a nível de angariação de fundos até hoje. Bravo! Sem vocês, nada disto seria possível!
Partiremos nesta pausa criativa de corações cheios, durante pelo menos 2 meses. Voltaremos cheios de energia e ideias novas para continuar a servir a nossa comunidade, e enfrentar os desafios que a indústria local nos apresenta presentemente. Um deles passa por aumentar as condições de trabalho da nossa equipa perante um cenário de constante evolução e inflação económica.

Vamos utilizar esta pausa para estarmos juntos e estudarmos formas de melhorar não apenas a nossa viabilidade, mas também a nossa oferta cultural para a cidade enquanto Associação, mantendo a nossa missão de apoiar artistas emergentes, programas inclusivos e diversos e as causas sociais e ecológicas que defendemos.

Dear friends and associates of Arroz, we would like to thank you for coming to this last edition of Sun Rice before our creative break!

Sun Rice is our not-for-profit event, which aims to raise funds to support the Association in the next phase of its relocation. As you know, it's a big operation that requires a lot of financial leverage, and it hasn't been easy for us to try to manage everything while keeping our space in Xabregas running smoothly.
With your help and presence, it is with great joy we announce in this last edition on April 12, Arroz managed to raise 2628,30€ which will go directly to this difficult mission. We have made our usual commitment to total transparency by sharing with you the figures for this latest edition in this graphic.

Based on this analysis, we conclude that it was the most successful edition in terms of fundraising. Bravo! Without you, none of this would have been possible! We'll be leaving on this creative break with full hearts for at least two months. We'll be back full of energy and new ideas to continue serving our community and tackling the challenges that the local industry is currently presenting us with. One of them is to increase the working conditions of our team in the face of a scenario of constant evolution and economic inflation.

Let's use this break to get together and look at ways to improve not only our viability, but also our cultural offer to the city as an Association, while maintaining our mission of supporting emerging artists, inclusive and diverse programs and the social and ecological causes we defend.

Arroz Estúdios association is a non-profit organisation based in Beato, Lisbon. We provide working space for emerging artists, and event spaces for them to showcase their work. Our goal is to offer a space for artistic growth where cultural events take place to contribute to Lisbon’s rapid development in a creative, open and multi-cultural way. We work with both local and international artists engaging the local communities and giving international links.
We aim to develop a creative landmark within Lisbon and expand to other cities in the future. To do so, we plan to find A PERMANENT SPACE so the project can be passed on from generation to generation as a cultural hub.

A newsletter deste mês traz uma atualização importante sobre a nossa jornada enquanto associação e ONG em crescimento.

Desde a pandemia, realizámos entre 3 a 8 eventos por semana, mais de 250 por ano, durante quatro anos consecutivos. Ao longo deste tempo, colaborámos com inúmeros criativos e artistas, muitos dos quais trabalharam em condições desafiantes para nos ajudar a cumprir a nossa missão de liberdade de expressão e impacto social. Embora tenhamos conquistado maior estabilidade no nosso espaço no Beato, continuamos a enfrentar desafios crescentes, tanto a nível de licenciamento como de sustentabilidade financeira, que afetam a nossa capacidade de manter eventos acessíveis e de melhorar as condições de trabalho da nossa equipa.

Para responder a estes desafios da melhor forma, decidimos fazer uma pausa criativa, um intervalo temporário na nossa programação de eventos, a partir de 13 de abril, por um período mínimo de dois meses. Durante este tempo, iremos refletir, reestruturar-nos internamente e explorar novas formas de melhor servir a nossa comunidade, garantindo também o descanso e o apoio necessários à nossa equipa.

O que muda na prática?
- Os eventos estarão em pausa, mas os nossos estúdios criativos permanecerão abertos.
- Organizaremos reuniões regulares com a comunidade para definir juntos os próximos passos.
- Isto não é um adeus, mas sim uma pausa estratégica para garantir o nosso futuro a longo prazo.

Estamos a consolidar as nossas raízes em Lisboa, a reforçar o nosso papel enquanto espaço cultural internacional e a participar em projetos de desenvolvimento de políticas culturais através da Reset Network, uma rede europeia de espaços culturais independentes. A cultura enfrenta desafios económicos e políticos significativos e, como espaço independente, estamos na linha da frente destas mudanças. Mas momentos como este lembram-nos da importância de espaços comunitários como x Arroz. Esta pausa é uma oportunidade para reconectar, reestruturar e regressar ainda mais fortes.

⭐ Dear Arroz Estúdios Community,
This month’s newsletter comes with an important update about our journey as an association and a growing NGO.

Since the pandemic, we’ve hosted an average of 3 to 8 events per week—over 250 per year—for four years straight. Through this, we’ve collaborated with countless talented creatives, many of whom have worked under challenging conditions to help us uphold our mission of freedom of expression and social impact. While we’ve gained more stability in our Beato location, we continue to face increasing licensing pressures and financial challenges that affect both our ability to sustain accessible events and improve working conditions for our team.

To address these challenges thoughtfully, we’ve decided to take a creative pause—a temporary break from our events program—starting April 13th for at least two months. This will allow us to reflect, restructure, and explore how we can better serve our community while ensuring our team gets the rest and support they need.

So, what does this mean in practice?
- Events will be on pause, but our creative studios will remain open.
- We’ll host regular community feedback meetings to shape the next steps together.
- This is not a goodbye—it’s a strategic reset to secure our long-term future.

Looking ahead, our vision remains strong. We’re establishing deeper roots in Lisbon, strengthening our role as an international cultural space, and taking part in policy development projects through the Reset Network of independent culture venues across the EU. Culture is facing significant economic and political challenges, and as an independent space, we’re on the front line of these shifts. But moments like this remind us why community spaces like Arroz are more important than ever. This pause is an opportunity to reconnect, regroup, and come back even stronger.

Afrojam LX é um coletivo sediado em Lisboa que dá vida à música e à cultura africanas através de jam sessions ao vivo, com instrumentos tradicionais como a kora, o djembe e o baixo, misturados com sons modernos.
Os seus projectos centram-se na mistura de estilos musicais tradicionais e contemporâneos, incentivando a colaboração entre artistas e explorando novos sons que reflectem a rica herança cultural da África Ocidental e não só.

Afrojam LX is a Lisbon-based collective that brings African music and culture to life through live jam sessions, featuring traditional instruments like the kora, djembe, and bass, blended with modern sounds.
Their projects focus on blending traditional and contemporary music styles, encouraging collaboration among artists, and exploring new sounds that reflect the rich cultural heritage of West Africa and beyond.

Unimos forças com o singular Arroz Estúdios, em Lisboa, para o nosso terceiro showcase do selo em 2025. 06/04 - 5PM Rio Coletivo

Paulo Edson é um músico e compositor de Bahia. Neste show ele lança um novo formato elétrico em uma banda de 5 integrantes, explorando estilos como Forró e Ijexá, com influências de Jazz, Música Latina e Moderna.
Selva Kalú é uma cantora e compositora independente espanhola cuja música é definida por letras fortes e sua mistura de World Music/Jazz/Pop. Bom Beijo existe entre os reinos da música eletrónica e orgânica, onde texturas com alma e ritmos groovy são combinados em géneros que variam de Nu-jazz downtempo e eletrónica a breaks experimentais. O seu concerto ao vivo é uma apresentação do seu próximo álbum onde os músicos do Rio Coletivo se fundem com as produções de Bom Beijo.

Paulo Edson is a musician and composer from Bahia. On this concert he launches a new electric format on a 5 piece band, exploring styles such as Forró and Ijexá, with influences of Jazz, Latin and Modern Music.
Selva Kalú is a Spanish independent singer-songwriter whose music is defined by strong lyrics and her mix of World Music/Jazz/Pop. Bom Beijo exists between the realms of electronic and organic music where soulful textures and groovy rhythms are combined in genres varying from Nu-jazz downtempo and electronica to experimental breaks. His live set is a presentation of his upcoming album where the musicians of Rio Coletivo are merged with Bom Beijo ́s productions.

Histeria Coletiva 23 é uma pequena crew sediada em Portugal, que organiza eventos Tekno Queer desde 2023. Organizamos eventos mensais chamados GRRRAVE, um nome inspirado no movimento Riot Grrrl, com o objetivo de amplificar a representação de géneros não dominantes em eventos e no mundo da música. A Histeria Coletiva 23 é um fenómeno em que um grupo de pessoas manifesta coletivamente sintomas de angústia semelhantes, motivados por uma crença partilhada: a Festa Rave. GRR-RAVE é um evento da Histeria Coletiva 23, centrado em pessoas que dançam ao som de música Rave e Tekno. Depois desta edição, despedimo-nos do Arroz por uns tempos, por isso estamos a preparar algo especial para todos vós com um pouco mais de energia.

Histeria Coletiva 23 is a small crew based in Portugal, organizing Tekno Queer events since 2023. We host monthly events called GRRRAVE, a name inspired by the Riot Grrrl movement, aiming to amplify the representation of non-dominant genders in events and the music world. Histeria Coletiva 23 is a phenomenon where a group of people collectively manifests similar distress symptoms, driven by a shared belief: the Rave Party. GRR-RAVE is an event by Histeria Coletiva 23, centered around people dancing to Rave and Tekno music. After this edition, we say farewell to Arroz for a while, so we are preparing something special for all of you with a little more power.

10/04 - 8PM - Live Jam with Soulfire and Friends

Erick Endres é produtor e guitarrista/baixista. Lançou quatro álbuns a solo e tem uma vasta experiência em grandes palcos como o Lollapalooza, o Meca Festival e o Planeta Atlântida. Já apoiou artistas como Snarky Puppy, Steve Via e Jethro Tull. Alexandra Soulfire é uma artista independente que mistura géneros, combinando sons de neo-soul, r&b, jazz e hip-hop com um tom sensual. O seu lirismo é emotivo e poderoso, tal como a sua voz. Lançou dois EPs de estúdio e prepara-se para lançar música nova no final de 2025.

Erick Endres is a producer and guitarist/bassist. He has released four solo albums, and has extensive exprerience on large stages such as Lollapalooza, Meca Festival, and Planeta Atlântida Festivals. He's supported artist such as Snarky Puppy, Steve Via, and Jethro Tull. Alexandra Soulfire is an independent genre-blending artist, combining Neo-soul, r&b, jazz, and hip-hop sounds with a sultry tone. Her lyricism is emotive and powerful, much like her voice. She has released two studio EP's and is set to release new music in late 2025.

Our goal is to offer a space for artistic growth where cultural events take place to contribute to Lisbon’s rapid development in a creative, open and multi-cultural way. We work with both local and international artists engaging the local communities and giving international links.
We aim to develop a creative landmark within Lisbon and expand to other cities in the future. To do so, we plan to find A PERMANENT SPACE so the project can be passed on from generation to generation as a cultural hub.

Nesta edição feita em homenagem ao mês internacional das mulheres. Com Line up 100% feminino. Contamos com DJs de 3 países diferentes e também para a estreia em Portugal.

Born in Brazil, the party held many editions at the state of São Paulo and arrived to Portugal, inviting local Dj's from the Lisbon scene but not only. Expect electronic music from techno to hard. This edition is in honour of International Women's Month. With a 100% women line-up. We have DJs from 3 different countries and also for the first time in Portugal.

N0SOYS1S0Y, um dos alter-egos de Alice Turnbull e fundador do @plantasialx, apresenta selecções de baixo do Japão a Chicago, empurrando a música house para um território cru e inesperado.
Cin regressa ao Arroz Estúdios, o espaço que moldou o seu percurso artístico. Os seus sets misturam deep house, minimal tech e groovy basslines com percussão suave e texturas imersivas.
Tágide (PT/UK) brings a fusion of Iberian folk, North African rhythms, and SWANA electro-dub. A DJ, radio host, and sociomusicology specialist, she explores the psychedelic and the political in sound.
N0SOYS1S0Y, one of Alice Turnbull’s alter-egos and founder of @plantasialx, delivers bass-heavy selections from Japan to Chicago, pushing house music into raw and unexpected territory.
Cin returns to Arroz Estúdios, the space that shaped her artistic path. Her sets weave deep house, minimal tech, and groovy basslines with smooth percussion and immersive textures.

Um ano depois de se terem juntado pela primeira vez, o coletivo @enxertia__ celebra o seu primeiro aniversário da melhor forma, reunindo e fazendo convergir bailes com uma noite que define a sua assinatura sonora.
@ritamaomenos criou o seu nicho distinto, misturando géneros com os seus padrões de bateria cinematográficos, obscuros e paisagens sonoras misteriosas. Luca Morniroli, também conhecido como @jesuisbipolar, cria uma fusão única de techno, tekno, trance, tribe, ambient e drone music. @mar777zzz10o0o é um Abletoniano focado em música hipnótica psicadélica, ambiente, dub e eletrónica experimental são também géneros que se fundem na paisagem sonora dos seus sets. @nharo_live é um antigo baixista punk que agora se dedica aos sintetizadores analógicos. Os seus sets ao vivo podem ser classificados como algo entre o techno profundo, hipnótico e desconstruído. @define.projection explora a interação de paisagens e ritmos, transformando perspectivas espaciais em experiências visuais imersivas.

One year after having joined forces together for the first time, the @enxertia__ collective celebrates its first birthday in the best way gathering and converging dances with a night that defines its signature sounds.
@ritamaomenos has created her distinctive niche, blending genres with her cinematic, obscure, drum patterns and eerie soundscapes. Luca Morniroli, also known as @jesuisbipolar, creates a unique fusion of techno, tekno, trance, tribe, ambient, and drone music. @mar777zzz10o0o is an Abletonian focuses on psychedelic hypnotic music, ambient, dub and experimental electronic are also genres that merge into his sets soundscape. @nharo_live is a former punk bass player now devoted to analog synthesizers. His live sets are can be labelled somewhere between deep, hypnotic and deconstructed techno. @define.projection explores the interplay of landscapes and rhythms, transforming spatial perspectives into immersive visual experiences

Miguel Limão adopta um estilo livre na abordagem à música que partilha. Entre experiências, procura desvios através de graves quentes e ritmos quebrados, envolvendo texturas hipnóticas e vozes. Puke e Peas são duas almas perdidas sempre à procura de algo diferente. Eles vão fazer-te suar com EBM/Post Punk, ou fazer-te rir com Italo e Dark Disco foleiros, ou fazer-te viajar com músicas electrónicas de artistas obscuros.

Miguel Limão adopts a free style in his approach to the music he shares. Among experiments, he seeks deviations through warm bass and broken rhythms, involving hypnotic textures and voices. Puke and Peas are two lost souls always looking for something different. They'll either make you sweat with EBM/Post Punk bangers or make you laugh with cheesy Italo and Dark Disco or trip you out with chuggy electronic tunes by obscure artists.

Em estreia absoluta no próximo evento da Fresca, Momento 1 é uma performance da autoria de Ana Reis e Teresa Moreira. A artista visual Rita Grancho, em colaboração com a nossa fotógrafa e videógrafa Mafalda Pombo, está a criar uma cenografia única para combinar com a arte sonora da noite.
Nos decks; Pletnev: O DJ e produtor internacional de Vilnius tornou-se uma figura-chave na cena da música eletrónica. Soberdrunkid: De batidas experimentais a acid, house e breaks, ele faz a ponte entre a introspeção e a energia das raves, cativando as pistas de dança com a sua abordagem única.
Mayan é a DJ residente e o arquiteto criativo da identidade do FRESCA, moldando a sua exploração de paisagens sonoras psicadélicas entre o cosmic house e ritmos profundos, progressivos e inspirados no trance, oferecendo uma interpretação refinada do ethos psicadélico.
Os residentes do AV Space, Simone Martinotta e Leonardo Meraviglia, apresentam Shifting Selves - uma exploração da identidade humana no nosso mundo digital. Através de um mosaico de realidades físicas e virtuais, esta peça audiovisual questiona o frágil equilíbrio entre um eu digital aparentemente perfeito e a essência do ser físico.

Momento 1 is a co-authored performance by Ana Reis and Teresa Moreira, will be debuting in Fresca. Visual artist Rita Grancho, in collaboration with our photographer and videographer Mafalda Pombo, is crafting a one-of-a-kind scenography to match the sonic artistry of the night.
On the decks; Pletnev: The internationally DJ and producer from Vilnius has become a key figure in the electronic music scene. Soberdrunkid: From experimental beats to acid, house, and breaks, he bridges introspection and rave energy, captivating dance floors with his unique approach.
Mayan is the resident DJ and the creative architect of FRESCA’s identity, shaping its exploration of psychedelic soundscapes between cosmic house and deep, progressive, trance-inspired rhythms, offering a refined interpretation of the psychedelic ethos. 
AV Space residents, Simone Martinotta & Leonardo Meraviglia, present Shifting Selves—an exploration of the human identity within our digital world. Through a mosaic of physical and virtual realities, this audiovisual piece questions the fragile balance between a seemingly perfect digital self and the essence of the physical being.

O Carnaval 2025 se anuncia!! Os blocos de Lisboa já estão aquecendo seus repiques e nós, da União dos Blocos de Rua de Lisboa, trabalhamos incansáveis pelos direitos do carnaval!
Janeiro vai ser um mês de celebrarmos e lutarmos juntes! Preparamos uma semana de programação com workshops, festas, roda de conversa e o lançamento do crowndfuding para apoiar nossos blocos.
Dia 25 e 26 ocupamos a Arroz Estúdios com duas festas que reúnem 10 blocos numa grande ManiFestação coletiva, pois “o carnaval não pede licença, pede passagem”!!

Carnival 2025 is announced! Lisbon's blocos are already warming up their drums and the União dos Blocos de Rua de Lisboa are working tirelessly for carnival rights!
January is going to be a month of celebrating and fighting together! We've prepared a week of programmes with workshops, parties, talks and the launch of crowdfunding to support our blocos.
On the 25th and 26th we're taking over Arroz Estúdios with two parties bringing together 10 blocos in a big collective ManiFestação, because ‘carnival doesn't ask for permission, it asks for passage’!!!

We aim to develop a creative landmark within Lisbon and expand to other cities in the future. To do so, we plan to find A PERMANENT SPACE so the project can be passed on from generation to generation as a cultural hub.

Como 2024 está a terminar, queríamos enviar uma mensagem de agradecimento a todos os nossos membros e colaboradores por todo o apoio ao longo deste ano. 2024 foi o nosso sexto ano como a Associação sem fins lucrativos a que todos se habituaram. As 2024 is ending, we wanted to send an appreciation message to all of our members and contributors for all the support over this year. 2024 was our sixth year as the non-profit Association you all got used to 🙂

Em 2024 vimos o nosso número de membros aumentar para 18000, organizámos mais de 192 eventos, entre eventos de música, jams, exposições de arte, performances, cinema, festivais de arte digital e muito mais. Mais uma vez, proporcionámos espaço de trabalho a mais de 40 artistas em estúdios e em residências.
In 2024 we saw our number of members increase by 18000, we hosted over 192 events, between music events, jams, art exhibitions, performances, cinema, digital art festivals and so much more. Once again, we provided working space to more than 40 artists in studios and in residencies.

Como equipa e comunidade, organizámos eventos de vários dias para o Dia Internacional da Mulher, Pride, Vozes do Futuro, Festival de Arte Digital Rare Effect. Todos estes projectos permitiram-nos continuar a cumprir os objectivos definidos no início do Arroz Estúdios, retribuindo às comunidades que queremos apoiar.
As a team & community we have proudly hosted multi-day events for International Women's Day, Pride, Vozes do Futuro, Digital Art Festival Rare Effect. All these projects have enabled us to continue delivering on the goals set out at the start of Arroz Estúdios, by giving back to the communities that we want to support.

As you might know, we faced a difficult year again due to our potential space eviction, but we finally got a longer stay rental extension. Our team is actively looking for a permanent space since many years already in Lisbon, but outskirt as well to get more opportunities. We’ll get back to you as soon as we have news on this spectrum!

⭐ FEV-MAR 2024

A Arroz luta lado a lado com a sua Comunidade. Em fevereiro, não só apoiámos a comunidade queer representada pelo Blocu durante a sua intervenção política no Carnaval de Lisboa, movimentando milhares de pessoas pela cidade numa manifestação pacífica contra a gentrificação em Lisboa, a favor dos direitos queer e da anti-discriminação - como também demos o nosso total apoio durante o Dia Internacional da Mulher na luta pela equidade e inclusão de género. Pela terceira vez, por volta do dia 8 de março, o Arroz apresentou um programa de 3 dias que incluiu música, performance, mostras de arte e workshops de artistas femininas* locais e dos seus colectivos, com o objetivo final não só de proporcionar a estas minorias um palco para fazerem o seu trabalho e reforçarem as suas vozes a nível local, como também de criar uma mudança positiva na batalha pela equidade de género em todo o mundo.

Arroz fights side by side with its Community. This February, not only we supported the Queer community represented by Blocu during their Carnaval political intervention in Lisbon, moving thousands of people through the city on a peaceful manifest against the gentrification in Lisbon, pro queer rights and anti-discrimination - as we also gave our full support through International Women’s Day on the fight for gender equity and inclusivity. For the 3rd time, around March 8th Arroz presented a 3-day long program including music, performance, art showcases and workshops from local Women* artists and their collectives, with the ultimate goal of not only providing these minorities with a stage to do their thing and strengthen their voices to a local level, as also creating positive change in the battle for gender equity worldwide.

Criámos uma série de eventos com base em donativos, denominada Sun Rice along 2024, em que 100% dos lucros gerados foram guardados para os desafios futuros que o Arroz irá enfrentar no processo de mudança e instalação na nova localização. Todos os detalhes das receitas foram partilhados com a nossa Comunidade, com total transparência e honestidade.

We created a donation based series of events named Sun Rice along 2024, where 100% of the profits generated were saved for the upcoming challenges that Arroz will be facing in the process of moving and settling down in the new location. All revenue details were shared with our Community, with full transparency and honesty.

No espaço de 2 meses, a nossa equipa conseguiu instalar mais um Planting A.I.R - Artists in Residence, que é um programa de residência artística no Arroz Estúdios, onde oferecemos estúdios de trabalho a artistas com baixos rendimentos ou de comunidades desfavorecidas, proporcionando-lhes condições para desenvolverem o seu trabalho e se integrarem na comunidade Arroz. Este programa oferece ainda mentoria profissional por especialistas na área, bem como formação em arte digital, blockchain, NFTs e IA.

Within 2 months our team managed to settle up one more Planting A.I.R - Artists in Residence, which is an artist residency programme at Arroz Estúdios, where we offer working studios to artists on low incomes or from disadvantaged communities, providing them with the conditions to develop their work and integrate into the Arroz community. This programme also offers professional mentoring by experts in the field, as well as training in digital art, blockchain, NFTs and AI.

ALEXANDER GARCÍA nasceu em Bogotá, Colômbia, e é um artista urbano, líder, gestor social e cultural, considerado um dos pioneiros da arte urbana e do graffiti em Bogotá. O seu trabalho é claramente empírico, tanto social como artístico, e gostava de explorar e improvisar sempre com base na realidade.
Alexander was born in Bogotá Colombia, and is an urban artist, leader, social and cultural manager, considered one of the pioneers of urban art and graffiti in Bogotá. His work is clearly empirical, both social and artistic, and he liked to explore and always improvise based on reality.

ESCAFA 777 nasceu em Goiânia, no Brasil e busca construir uma ponte entre mundos diferentes, conectando as melhores comunidades de referência para elevar a qualidade artística e apoiar outros artistas que precisam dessas ferramentas. Através do hip-hop, que serve como um poderoso instrumento de empoderamento, e do blockchain, vislumbrou a criação de um ecossistema musical autónomo e alternativo, impulsionado pelo envolvimento de uma comunidade de utilizadores.
Escafa 777 was born in Goiânia, in Brazil and seeks to build a bridge between different worlds, connecting the best reference communities to raise artistic quality and support other artists who need these tools. Through hip-hop, which serves as a powerful instrument of empowerment, and of blockchain, he envisioned the creation of a musical ecosystem autonomous and alternative, driven by a community user engagement.

Estes dois artistas tiveram a oportunidade de fazer parte do festival Rare Effect festival (5.ª edição), para apresentar o seu trabalho no final da residência. O programa de 10 dias incluiu um Open Call para exposições de arte digital em todo o local, jams ao vivo e noites de clube de música, programação de filmes e workshops de tecnologia emergente que investigam o que está por vir em IA, blockchain e artes eletrônicas. Continuando a construir sobre o tema da migração que explorámos em 2022, expandimos a conversa para a realidade mais ampla do tema da Obsolescência.
Alguns dos artistas da residência 7th Extinction, Carlotta Sillano, Gabriele Berbotti e Daniel Pinot, também fizeram parte do festival. Veja o vídeo aqui.

These 2 artists got the chance to be part of Rare Effect festival (5th edition), to present their work at the end of the residency. The 10-day programme featured an Open Call for digital art exhibition across the venue, live jams & music club nights, film programming, and emerging technology workshops investigating what’s next in AI, blockchain, and electronic arts. Continuing to build upon the theme of migration we explored in 2022, we expanded the conversation to the wider reality of the Obsolescence’s theme.
Some of the 7th Extinction residency Artists Carlotta Sillano, Gabriele Berbotti & Daniel Pinot have been part of the festival as well. Check the video here.

Começou este mês mais uma nova série de eventos - Super Sesh - em parceria com a Super Bock. Feita de amigos para amigos, como forma de agradecer todo o apoio da nossa comunidade em Lisboa, a Sesh é a mais fresca noite de discoteca interna com curadoria dos Arroz Estúdios. O formato inclui sempre o convite de um headliner internacional, um artista local estabelecido e um artista residente da Arroz para fazer o acolhimento. O primeiro Sesh foi um sucesso e não podíamos estar mais gratos a todos os que nos apoiaram!

Another new series of events started this month - Super Sesh - in partnership with Super Bock. Made from friends to friends as a way to express our gratitude for all the warm support from our Community here in Lisbon, the Sesh is the freshest in-house club night curated by Arroz Estúdios. The format includes always an international headliner, a local established artist and an Arroz resident artist to do the hosting. The first Sesh was a success and we couldn’t be more grateful for all of you who came to support!

Known for collaborations with legends such as Moodymann and Carl Craig, he has released classics such as ‘Covert Action’ and was christened Stingray by Drexciya's James Stinson. With masked performances around the world and dozens of releases on iconic labels, he continues to mould the sound of the future. We will have a second dancefloor which will be curated by the Comandante project, orchestrated by Mikey Sibson. It is also worth mentioning that room 1 will be powered by Mystic Fyah's sound system.

O Química regressa ao Arroz Estúdios para uma edição especial wormhole, com as mais recentes inovações da música de dança profunda e psicadélica, com um live set especial de 1h30m de K.O.P. 32, artista francesa baseada em Seul. Lamim abrirá a noite, conhecida pela sua paleta de sons que trará um ambiente trippy e hipnótico para aquecer a nossa pista de dança imersiva. O residente Paixao toca em b2b com Mar710, da equipa Enxertia, com grooves profundos e tribais e sons de insectos em espiral. João Melgueira encerra - o outro residente da Química vai animar o ambiente para nos tirar lentamente do collective wormhole.

Química returns to Arroz Estúdios for a special wormhole edition, featuring the latest innovations in deep, psychedelic dance music, with a special 1h30m live set by K.O.P. 32, Seoul-based French artist. Lamim will be opening the night, known for her sound pallete that will bring a trippy, hypnotic mood to warm-up our immersive dancefloor. Resident Paixao will play b2b with Enxertia crew's Mar710 with deep, tribal grooves and spiraling insect-like sounds. João Melgueira closes — the other Química resident will uplift the mood to slowly get us out of the collective wormhole.
